Just a couple Layouts done this month
I posted earlier this month about a contest I entered at Digital Scrapbook Place called the Trendsetters Contest. It is the most fun contest due to they allow you to really be creative and step outside the box. They also “give” you the kits to use. (yep, freebies) So no matter what you win.
Here are some of my entries.
3 Sisters
3 Hearts
3 of a Kind

A Busy Designer is a Happy Designer
I have been Happy, Happy, Happy, which means I have been Busy, Busy Busy!!! That old saying, “Do what you Love and Love what you do”, is so true. Since I was just a young girl with color books (no, not cave painting, no matter what my kids say) I have always loved painting, sketching, redecorating, crafting and anything creative or artistic. One of my fondest memories is the time I sat all day painting Ninja Turtle faces on small pumpkins at a craft festival and not having one pumpkin left at the end of the day. It’s an amazing feeling to make people happy and I admit freely, I loved the praise.
This week, as I was catching up on my Favorite Blogs reading, I happened upon a blog written by one of my good friends, Laura Lou. The blog is always fun and the photos are amazing, but the blog itself was all white. No design, no color, just a header and articals. So I dropped her a line and asked if she would mind if I designed her a theme. Laura, being the sweetheart she is, said sure and gave me permission to decorate ALL her blogs. (key word: ALL) I always thought I was a bit crazy trying to keep up 3 blogs, but this lady has 6, yes 6! Everyone was plain white, except for one that had a bright pink background. 6 blank canvases, 6 places for me to create and play till my hearts content. What’s not to love?
So thanks to a dear friend, these last 3 days have been very happy days for me.
Here are some of my Designs …
- A Snowbird in Paradise
- Chatigue with Laura Lou
- Musings of a Genealogy Nut
- Gammy’s Stories
- A Mother’s Legacy
- THS Class of 1956
So if you are in need of a spruce up, total make over, even a whole blog let me know. Just remember, I do simple set ups, I am a designer, not a coder.
Me, a “Business” card, who would have thought
Even though I have designed hundreds of business cards for friends and employers, I never ever once thought to make one for myself. Never thought I would need one. One thing I never pictured myself saying, “Here is my card.” I am more of the “Here’s your sign” type. But after taking a taking a scolding and being asked for my card 4 times in one day, I broke down and made one for myself.
This is actually the third business card I have made in the last week. I made two other for some very creative and crafty friends of mine.
This card I made for Anns Paragon Jewelry. She creates amazing custom handmade jewelry. I also started her a simple blog on blogger to help her advertize her etsy shop. You should check it out if you love jewelry as much as I do. Anns Paragon Jewelry
Here is another that I did for Jayne Parra of Knothead Designs. She is another creative crafter who does the most amazing things with wood and things we normally toss out. I also started her a simple blog at knothead-designs.blogspot.com.
So as you can see, I have been having so much fun and loving every minute.
Coming Back
Been away to long, but I am on my way back. Not quite there yet, but almost, I can see the light in the window.
I have been working on my photo albums, scanning photos and making blog templates. Trying to keep as busy as possible. I am one of those people that can go a bit crazy if I have nothing to do. I need to work, even if it is just pretend work, to stay sane. Not having a job is really starting to get to me, so I make up jobs. (yes, I am weird) I have been able to get a 30 page wedding album done for my darling daughter-in-law and another 30 page album 3 of my beautiful grand daughters. I also have to mention that I got them printed at Costco and they did a wonderful job!
I have spent many an hour scanning over 300 photos that I was able to gather on my last trip to see my family in New York. I have become quite skilled in the art of scanning. Plus I now a huge stash of great photos to make tons of great layout and memory books. I think Costco is going to become a great friend of mine.
Speaking of New York, I am headed back there on Sept. 1st, and will be staying for 6 to 8 weeks. I am really looking forward to it, but still have a little guilt for leaving my hubby for that amount of time. Will be great to be able to spend so much time with my darlings. My usual two week visit seem so rushed, this time they will more than likelybe glad to see me go!
I have been scrapping for fun! Digital Scrapbook Place ran the Trendsetters contest this month, and you know me and contests. Specially at Digital Scrapbook Place! They give you prizes just for entering! What’s not to love, right? Here is one of the Layouts I did for the contest…
